Overview of Beijing

Beijing of China, a municipality directly under the Central Government is the capital of the People's Republic of China and the country's political, economic, cultural and transportation center as well as a famous historic city. Geographically located in the northwest part of the North China Plain, and covering an area of 16,800 square km. Beijing is the second largest city in China with a population of more than 11 million. Beijing is an economic center of China being one of the biggest industrial bases in China. Beijing's industrial production is the second largest in value among all Chinese cities. Beijing is a historical city with lots of scenic spots. In Beijing, there are numerous museums and libraries with the largest collection of books in china. Beijing also serves as a center for international exchange in culture, science and technology.?The best seasons in Beijing are Spring and Autumn. Beijing China is indeed an ideal place to visit all round the year.

Beijing Tourist Spots

The Palace Museum
The Forbidden City was the Chinese Imperial palace from the mid-Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. It now houses the Palace Museum. The complex consists of 800 buildings with 8,886 rooms. It covers 720,000 square meters. Its the largest, most complete imperial palace in the world. It is located in the capital of the Peoples Republic of Beijing city center, east of Changan Avenue to the north of Tiananmen Square.

The Badaling Great Wall
In the north of China, there lies a 6, 700-kilometer-long (4, 161-mile-long) ancient wall. Now well-known as the Great Wall of China, it starts at the Jiayuguan Pass of Gansu Province in the west and ends at the Shanhaiguan Pass of Hebei Province in the east. As one of the Eight Wonders in the world, the Great Wall of China has become the symbol of the Chinese nation and its culture.It is the most magnificent of the Great Wall.
